Why is my water green?
During the first couple months your pond will be green, it's ok! As the plants, fish, and bacteria balance out this condition will improve.

I have algae on the rocks, is this ok?
It is normal and will always happen. It may be green, brown, or black. Be patient and let the bacteria do its thing.

What is String Algae?
Long, stringy green algae grows very fast. It can be hand harvested, or treated with S.A.B. (String Algae Buster). The best way to treat string algae bloom is to balance the pond with pond plants. Pond plants feed from the waste of the fish, as well as the debris in the pond. Plants also help with clarity.

Another cause of string algae may be that you are feeding your fish too much (fish waste helps promote the growth of string algae). We recommend feeding three times a week. Try to set a schedule like Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

What about Skimmer Filter Clogs?
Once a week, open the skimmer lid and clean out the skimmer net. You will also need to rise out the skimmer filter mat once a month.
